Hi class of 1964. It
doesn't seem possible that 45 years have passed.
My daughter, Denise,
moved to Oregon in 2006 and since she is my only child, we decided to move
to Dallas Oregon also. We moved in 2007. I read in the newspaper that
Ginny Barbee's son is an attorney here. Want to upload a photo and record your story of what you've been up to? Visit our UPDATES page |

Fellow Top-Hi alumns. . . Looking forward to seeing many of you in October. A quick update of the past 40 years. After graduation from Top-Hi, a quick (and I mean quick) stint at Central Washington University. Not really interested in school at that time!! Joined the Navy to escape the draft and spent my tour of duty stationed for the most part in San Diego. After I was discharged, honorably of course, returned to Toppenish because I didn't have anywhere else to go and was unsure of my professional ambitions. Decided on the IT profession and attended a computer programming school on the coast. During my time at school I met my wife Karen and after graduation we were married, moved to Bellevue, and I took a job with the electric company in 1974. I spent 22 years there and 6 additional years as part of a subsidiary company formed to market and sell a product that we developed. Unsuccessful in that endeavor the subsidiary company was sold to a company headquartered in Dallas called Alliance Data Systems. We continue to have our office in Seattle where I have been for the past 3 years. Karen and I have been married for 31 years in May and reside in Bellevue. Karen's job as a district manager for Eileen Fisher, a women's apparel company, requires her to travel at times, mostly on the West Coast. Our daughter Cara, lives in the Seattle area and works as an interior designer for a national architecture firm, NBBJ. She continues to be a great part of our lives and we see her often. Life is good for us!! See you all soon. . . Mike |

After high school I went to work for the Boeing Co. in Seattle for 18 months. While living in Kent I met my husband to be and we were married May 24, 1969; lived in Burien until May of 1972. Our first two children, Leslee and Kirk were born in Renton during that time and Frank went back to college to earn his Court Reporting Degree, after which we returned to the Yakima Valley. From 1972-1987 we lived
in Yakima and Cowiche. Six of our children were born during this time:
Holly, Casey, Brigit, Mark, Jill and Kimberly. In 1987 we moved to Boise,
Idaho, where we resided until 1992, and then moved to Spokane and have been
here since. Of course our children
are now grown and we have many grandchildren (12), 7 girls and 5 boys. In the last several years we have had more opportunities to travel, especially to New York and Florida and Washington, DC to visit family, see children graduate from college, and generally having a good time. For a number of years, we have enjoyed spending time in Nelson, BC, visiting "old" friends and family in Yakima and Boise, a few trips to Disney World in Orlando when the kids were younger, and are now planning a vacation to Tampa, FL in late November 2004. Frank and I celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary this past May at the same time we were attending Brigit's graduation. We visited NYC then and had a wonderful time just enjoying the sights and feasting in Little Italy. Leslee, Jill and Brigit were with us also. We will continue to work for a few years and, hopefully spend our retirement years in Florida and Arizona during the cold months and return north for the warm seasons here to visit children and grandchildren. As for hobbies or recreation, I attend yoga classes twice a week to stay in shape. It helps. We enjoy camping with friends and family. Please visit our family web site www.ciccarellos.com for the latest on the clan. |

I can't believe it has been 40 years.
Just a brief summary. After graduation I attended YVC for two years and
then moved to Seattle. We have done some traveling and hopefully
we will do more. We spend as many weekends as possible at our log home on
the Wenatchee River, just outside of Leavenworth. We share this with our
daughter and her family. |

Jim and I were married in November '64 so this is our 40th Anniversary also. We have three children, Mike & Arlene, Cheryl & John Kroll, Dawn & Mike Earhart. We have ten grandchildren and 2 3/4 great grandchildren. Jim has worked in sawmills all of our lives. I have retired from law enforcement and am now working for the Teamsters in Yakima. We still enjoy camping and fishing and that is where we usually are on week-ends with grandkids.

It really feels like 40 years since we graduated until I look at our
pictures and then it doesn't seem that long ago. Lots of good memories. I am
coming home in August for a family reunion with my cousins, lots of Laymans
still living there, but am looking
forward to the class reunion in October. I am really going to make it a
point to come to this one. Patti Woodall-Ohall has kept me up to date pretty
much but it has been awhile since I've heard from her and even longer since
I've seen her. |

After high school, I attended the University of Puget Sound and the University of Texas at El Paso, graduating with a degree in English and secondary education. I taught middle school language arts and drama for 22 years in Alaska, followed by 6 more years in Oregon, directing innumerable student plays over those years. I lived briefly in Oregon, Washington, Georgia, Kentucky, and Texas before moving to Alaska where I met my husband Mike, a high school teacher & coach. We raised three children there before retiring from teaching & moving to the Oregon Coast, where we both ended up with second teaching careers. We've now re-retired and recently moved to Port Ludlow, WA. My hobbies include photography, aerobics, drama productions, gardening, walking our dog, & traveling (Europe, the Caribbean, Canada, & Mexico). We just bought a 31-foot power cruiser, so add boating to the list. Having just made our first trip to the Canadian Channel Islands, we look forward to boating throughout Puget Sound and beyond. We also love getting together with our family whenever possible: Bryan, his wife, daughter, & baby-to-be in Portland; Brandy, her husband, daughter, & son in South Carolina; and Bart & his wife in Talent, Oregon. I'm excited to be back in my home state after all these years and look forward to renewing high school acquaintances. |

I attended
the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, where I was a member of Phi Gamma
Delta fraternity and was also elected president of the student government.
Following a year of law school, I landed a nice job in data processing sales
for IBM-Hawaii. After a few years I left to hitchhike in Europe, then was
recruited to work at Washington Mutual Savings Bank to develop new services. This
position led to producing corporate
films for a company owned by Danny Kaye. In 1977 I entered the ranks of
entrepreneurs, and I spent most of the next ten years building a chain of 10-minute
oil change stores in Western Washington, then a second chain in Northern
California. Both chains were sold quite successfully, and I joined with a
partner to develop a telecommunications business in the Soviet Union. Most of
the 1990's were spent growing the company from zero to 800+ employees. I
got a bit old for the extensive travel, and managing such a large business
was more than I wanted. So a round of institutional funding and a few
mergers later, I was able to shift to a new venture. For the past five years, I've been involved in the
cellular business as well as operating several web-hosted businesses over
the internet. Our three children are all in college (Sonia @ Marquette Univ.,
Rémy @ U of
Wyoming, and Carsten @ Montana State - Bozeman), so we recently sold our long-time
home in Hunts Point and moved a few miles north to Kirkland, WA. I've
served on a number of Boards including the Board of trustees for the
University of Puget Sound, NW Entrepreneur's Network, and various
businesses. Every
month or so, Bob Pederson and I meet up at the Lockspot (Arnie's place in
Ballard) to enjoy some great food and listen to a few "Arnie stories". |

Hello Top Hi Wildcats and class of 1964, and especially to those of you who are pretty and single/divorced! Simply, unbelievable..., 40 years. Well, as for me, following graduation I joined the US Air Force..."to see the world" as they used to say. Well, I did see Georgia for 2 years. Then on to Thailand/Vietnam, and then to Los Angeles -Space and Missile System where I met and married my 1st wife, a graduate of UCLA. Following marriage I moved to Ellensburg and attended CWU/received a BA degree in Business. Then moved back to Los Angeles and graduate school (UCLA) interrupted by 1st child. In 1976 moved back to Washington State/Bothell and following 4 months of no job offers was offered three jobs the same week....the Seattle Fire Dept- as a fireman, WA. State Patrol-as a Patrolman, and the US IRS-as a Tax Auditor. I went to work for US IRS for 1 year and then transferred to U.S. Dept of Commerce/National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). I am still employed by NOAA as a Personnel Management Specialist where we offer management services to 4,000 employees. Presently, I am divorced following 18 years of marriage, and I live in Redmond, WA. I have four children: Peter a college teacher in Korea; Lisa a RN at Children's Hospital in Seattle; Kara attends the UW, and Derek who is age 16 and twice the challenge I was at his age. I am planning retirement in 2 years. My parents still live in Toppenish - Germantown Road. Life is good - I jog 4 miles/5 times a week. All the Best, to all! Pete Macias, JR. |

It has been an exciting 40 years. After graduating I attended YVC one year, then Uncle Sam called, so I joined the Navy. 2.5 years in San Diego and 13 months in Cam Ranh Bay, Vietnam. Upon discharge, I worked at good old Del Monte again and then moved to Tacoma and attended Bates Voc. for one year. I got a job in Albuquerque, New Mexico in September of 1971. I worked there for the Indian Health Service as a Computer Operator, Programmer and took an early Retirement in 1997 as a Systems Analyst. I met my future wife, Linda, in Tacoma, while attending Bates Voc. She followed me to Albuquerque and we were married in February of 1972. We raised 4 children together while living there 26 years. Our children are now living around the country, Sherie in North Bend, Washington, Renea in Joplin, Missouri, Tina in Riverside, California and Richard in Albuquerque. 7 Grandchildren, the oldest serving in Iraq at this writing. I was very fortunate to be able to travel around the country with my job and on various vacations. I enjoy RVing, photography, wood working and gardening. When I retired I moved back to Toppenish, to take care of my mom. She still lives with me now in Cowiche, I moved there about five years ago. I worked for Wal-Mart for a couple of years after I moved back to Washington, what a mistake!!!! I got back into the Computer Business, when I got a job with the City of Yakima, at the Police Station, as a programmer. I have been there four years now, and hopefully I can "Really" Retire in a couple of years. With all the good times there has to be some sadness. Linda passed away suddenly August of last year, with heart failure. We were married 32+ years. It has been quite an adjustment but every day gets better. Still working and taking care of my mom and two dogs have kept me busy. I am looking forward to our reunion in a few weeks and seeing everyone. |

Right after graduation, I worked at J.C. Penney Co, then spent a year working for Boeing in Renton. Moved back to Toppenish in 1966 to work for Western Packing until 1980. During that time, I married Delores Gonzales, TopHi '65, and we had 3 children - Oscar, Janell, and Rosemary. Oscar now lives in Kennewick, and the 2 girls in Seattle. In 1981 I went through a divorce and moved to Kennewick. I worked for the USDA FSIS MPI as a Consumer Safety Inspector, and lived in Kennewick until I was promoted at the USDA and moved to Medford, Oregon in 1989. In Medford, I met my fiancé, Loretta Heath in 1993, and in 1998 we purchased our home in Central Point (suburb of Medford). No grandchildren at this time, but I enjoy Loretta's four. Together we enjoy camping, fishing, golfing, and softball. I currently play in a city B league, a senior league, a co-ed league, and pickup a few tournaments as time allows. Medford is still home, and I am a member of the Eagles and Moose Lodges here. Retirement is planned for December 2006, and then we'll enjoy more traveling and "RV" fun. See you at the reunion, and I'm looking forward to the golf tournament. |

After graduation, I went into the military in 1965. I was in the US Navy Mobile Con. Bat #6 UDT Diver. I spent 19 months in Viet Nam on an underwater demolition team. This was followed by 13 months service in Cuba. In 1970 I was discharged on medical disability as a result of being declared 60 % disabled from wounds suffered. In 1971 I got married and we had 5 kids. Three of the kids graduated from Toppenish and the other two graduated from Yakima. All are grown and living on the Coast. In 1997 we divorced, and in 2001 I received military retirement and was declared 100 % disabled. I still live in the Yakima Valley, and I am an active fisherman and golfer. I'll see you at the reunion golf tournament. |

I admit I’ve been out of touch for forty years and I’m looking forward to seeing all of you at the fortieth reunion. After graduation from old Top-Hi I went straight to YVCC… that didn’t work. I bounced around Toppenish working for U&I Sugar, DelMonte and Berg’s Box Company until I had the adolescent epiphany and realized that I was going nowhere and getting there fast! I moved to Yakima and began working for Noland Decoto Flying Service. While at Noland Decoto I discovered my passion for aviation and teaching; together, they would be my calling. I earned my Private, then Commercial pilot’s license and a Flight Instructors rating and was soon flight instructing for the company and flying commercial charter flights. I earned an FAA Aviation Maintenance Technician certification and found myself repairing and maintaining aircraft as well. In 1970 I returned to college at CWU and completed a Bachelor’s Degree in education. In 1972 I accepted a position with South Seattle Community College as an instructor in their FAA approved school. As if full time teaching wasn’t enough I accepted a position as director of aircraft maintenance for Fancher Flyways Inc., a Beechcraft Aero Service Center in Renton. In 1975 I became the luckiest guy in the world when I married the best friend I’ve ever had, Nancy Kinney of Toppenish. When we were married Nancy was working for Allied Stores/Bon Marche Division in downtown Seattle as a company internal auditor. Nancy and I moved back to Yakima in 1978 and she accepted a position as operations manager of the Yakima Bon store where she remained until 1991.Our first son Emmett was born in 1980. Emmett is currently in his third year at the University of Washington School of Dentistry. We’re anxious to call him “Doctor Nulph”. Our second son, Spencer, was born in 1983 and is a senior at UW preparing for law school. In 1990 I returned to CWU and began my studies in Materials Science and Manufacturing Engineering. In 1994 I authored a curriculum for statewide distribution in Manufacturing Engineering Tech. In the process of writing this work I made lasting friendships at Batelle Labs, CWU, Boeing and the Northwest Educational Research Lab. In 1994 I received my state certification as instructor of Materials Engineering. Currently, I am in my 31st year of teaching and teach for the Yakima Valley Technical Skills Center here in Yakima. I am an adjunct professor at YVCC. In addition to teaching I operate an aircraft maintenance consulting business and specialize in the design, engineering and construction of specialized aircraft components. Nancy is a Realtor with Coldwell Banker and operates her company, Nancy Nulph Inc. We live in our dream home in West Valley and in my “spare time” I maintain this “money pit”. Life is very good. |

I left home and school in 1963, and joined the Marine Corps and was in that service until 1966, having sustained injury, I returned to school Via Bellevue Community College, having run out of funds, I applied for, and received entrance into a Vocational Rehabilitation program that advised me to return to high school, and receive a diploma, which I foolishly did. I came back to Toppenish, along with school I returned to my old ways and influences, Low or without money I worked at Stokley's in Zilliah, stacking boxes, loading boxcars, working in the freezer room knocking hashbrowns off a chain, and other important and fulfilling jobs, on a part time basis, and in the summer I worked at Delmonte in the pea and corn harvests. Realizing that this was a difficult way to make my fortune, I decided I should return to school so I applied to YVCC in Yakima, rented a small apartment paid commitment fees and was broke, The program was supposed to pay for books and tuition, but no one there had ever heard of the program, and the school would not extend credit until the program kicked in, So there I was without money with out school. A job came available at the Post Office in Toppenish, that I was uniquely qualified for, it was a janitor job, The qualifications were, be a disabled veteran, and be available 40 hours a week, I was the former by virtue of my military experience, and the latter seemed a small space of time to absent myself from the pool tables, which was paying very small returns at that time, (a game that I became fascinated with in junior high, thanks to Larry Wiess, whose main interest was the pinball machines which payed money back, or at least on occasion which was located in the same establishment, "Rowberry's", which was always spoken of with aw, or a sense of disgust, depending on what you had been told, or your moral outlook. To me it was exciting, and challenging and I couldn't get enough. I loved the game of Pool and Snooker and even Billiards, and still do, although I rarely play these days. Other games that have had a large part in my life have been Golf which Ray Perrault got me entangled in, he would take me out and laugh at my style of play, I would ask him for advice and he would say, "I don't know" and snicker some more, secretly I think he just loved beating me. The next game that became important was Chess, I played almost every after noon during my lunch hour,or hours with Jim Flint publisher of the Toppenish news paper, whom became a wonderful friend, through thick and thin, and became a large part of my education, in life, as well as chess, these games went on for twenty-something years, and long after I left the Postal Service, and all the way across China, from the Great Wall, to Shanghai. I am now re-learning a game my Aunt had taught me while I was working summers in high school on there farm, called Scrabble. This game I play with my land lady, and her friend often on Sabbath in Israel, which I visit nearly every year, here of late, as study of my Lord, and Savior, whom has changed my life again, in a big way. Any one who has not had this experience may find it difficult to understand, but I highly recommend it, it will change your life too!!! It is a relearning of all the things we learned in kindergarten, and just learning them ,but putting them into practice. And learning of a God, not the God of your imagination, but of a once lived person, who's birth changed all of our lives, even if it be unknown to us. I give thanks to Him, that He came in my time of need, and has not left yet. Well between these games I got married twice divorced once, oh !, to two different women, raised up two children one hers, and one ours, moved a few times around Toppenish, and once to Selah, Where I now, and still reside, most of the year, I have a part time job working for the Pace Chemical Corp. which manufactures post harvest chemicals, for whom I drive about 10,000 miles during apple harvest, picking up samples, and testing drench tanks at customer warehouses, it may be the only work I have enjoyed in my life. besides some wood working. Having looked at all the pictures of you folks on the Net, All I can say is how did you get so old, in so short of a time. God Bless you one and all; Ray "Pint" Nyce |

After graduation from Top-Hi and a year-long stint at YVC
I moved to Ellensberg where I was an on-again-off-again student at CWU,
started a family (son Keith), and got involved in the restaurant business.
After moving to the "west side" in 1980 I continued my involvement in that
trade and have owned or been a partner in several Seattle area eateries
since then. My wife of 21 years and I currently own The Lockspot Cafe, an
icon of a place that's been doing business at its Ballard Locks location for
about 75 years. I keep medium busy at the restaurant while Ann Marie keeps
very busy as the CEO of the American Cancer Society, Great West Div. In our
spare time we enjoy the use of our boat (moored on Lake Union) and hope
someday to live aboard and do some serious long-distance cruising. We're
looking forward to seeing many of you in October. |
